23/03/04 Brookfield win 3 cups in Winter League

Congratulations to the all 3 teams who won cups in the Winter League

The Men's first team played Malahide's second team. The no. 1 pair of Nap Keeling and Nicky Blake-Knox had an impressive straight sets win, but the no. 2 pair of Corne Mouton and Patrick Donaghy and the no. 3 pair of Martin Murphy and Simon Hannigan both dropped their first sets. However both of these pairs came back strongly to win their second sets, and set up an exiting finale. We went ahead in both final sets, and Paddy and Corne came through strongly to seal the win 2-0 for Brookfield. Congratulations to all 6 members of the team.

The Ladies' first team played Blackrock in their final. The first pair of Carolyn Burges and Rachel McDonogh were too strong for their opposition, and had an impressive straight sets victory. However the no. 2 pair of Adrienne Taylor and Carol Fanagan, and the no. 3 pair of Betty Cronin and Sheila Chamberlain both dropped their first sets. Betty and Sheila also dropped the second set, but Adrienne and Carol picked up their game in the second set, which they won 6-0. They then went on to win the final set 6-2, and seal a 2-1 victory for Brookfield. Congratulations to all 6 members of the team.

The Ladies' second team played Clane in their Final. The ladies performed impressively despite being interruped by snow(!) for an hour. The no. 1 pair of Judy O'Hanlon and Clodagh Veale had a great 3 set victory after dropping the first. The no. 2 pair of Joan Gillen and Jerry Schaffilitsky had a tough match which they unfortunately lost in 2. But the number 3 pair of Ruth Potterton and Sue Maxwell played extremely well to seal the 2-1 victory, and Brookfield's third cup. Congratulations to all 6 members of the team.
